Proposals invited from CHASS faculty and advanced CHASS PhD students for research presentations in the 2026-27 “Who’s Afraid of Feminism?” undergraduate workshop series, hosted by the UCR Women’s Resource Center (WRC). The Center for Ideas and Society will award $250 in research funds for participation.
About the series
The “Who’s Afraid of Feminism?” series features undergraduate-facing discussions on “case studies” in feminist and gender theory, social justice-engaged scholarship, and other related topics. The series is coordinated and hosted by the WRC Social Justice Committee, an undergraduate committee that explores challenges, barriers, inequities, and oppressive systemic structures that impede people’s access to opportunities and their quality of life.
Talk format
- 15 to 20-minute slide presentation or short lecture with visuals, followed by a discussion facilitated by a WRC representative
- Accessible to an interdisciplinary undergraduate audience that is interested in and curious about feminism and related topics
Past events (as examples):
- Cyber-Feminism and AI Commodification
- Internalized Misogyny
- Defining Feminism
Note the presentation format for this series is in-person and on campus during the quarter.
