Kelly Lytle Hernandez is an Associate Professor in the History Department at UCLA and the author of MIGRA! A History of the U.S. Border Patrol (University of California Press, 2010). This public lecture was based on her forthcoming book, City of Inmates: Conquest and the Rise of Human Caging in Los Angeles, 1781-Now.
