Conveners: CHASS Faculty or Graduate Students
Participants: at least 50% from CHASS, all others welcome

About Academic Book Clubs
Stay engaged with colleagues and build your research networks through Academic Book Clubs. Invite a group of four or more colleagues and select a book – it’s that easy!
Book Club program details (revised Spring 2025):
- Awards cover cost of book purchases, up to $300 total
- Titles should have the potential to engage multiple perspectives, disciplines and methods in critical inquiry
- Groups agree to meet at least 3 times during the quarter (in person or on Zoom)
Participants
- Conveners must be CHASS Faculty or Graduate Students
- At least half the participants in the group must be CHASS scholars
- Up to 50% of the participants may be from from other UCR departments, UC campuses, local institutions or community organizations
- Minimum group size: Five participants, including convener
- To encourage interdisciplinary engagement, groups must include members from two or more UCR departments/units
About ongoing Book Clubs:
This section in effect for applications after July 1, 2025
- Groups may apply two times per academic year. (July 1 – June 30)
- Clubs need not be hosted sequentially. For example, a group may apply for fall and for spring in the same academic year.
- After two successful awards, a group may substantially change the participant list to include several new members and reapply for one more award in the same year.
