Two disciplinary perspectives- one topic!
Join Tom Lutz (Creative Writing) and Judith Rodenbeck (MCS) in a conversation on boredom and it’s virtues– or lack thereof.
Tom’s view: Boredom has no virtues. ‘Idleness’ can be an important incubator of inspiration and change but ‘boredom’ almost by definition leads nowhere.
Judith’s view: Boredom can only sustain itself through lack of commitment. The minute you commit yourself to staying with the boredom, in the boredom, bored, you are doing something interesting.
