OVERVIEW
The Focused
Research Groups (FRG) program funds single and multi-year
collaborative research groups. FRG's organize interdisciplinary
events around a common theme.
UCR scholars from several disciplines collaborate
and examine areas of common
interest. Normally members are selected from the
College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences.
Focused Research Group
awards are made by the advisory committee to a group based on the
intrinsic merits of the proposed group's project, it's organization,
design, feasibilty, the commitment of the group's members to the project
and the pertinence of their expertise, and the scholarly standing of the
group's members.
If a Distinguished
Faculty Visitor (DFV) is in residence during the year of selection, the
DFV functions as the group convener; and his or her announced research
topic plays a central role in the selection process in the competition for
Focused Research Group members.
