Through this workshop students will be introduced to a number of ways that media can be used to enhance and augment live performance. Mr. McCray will introduce students to a number of his past productions in which media played a prominent role, learning about the functions and uses of the media in those productions, and the ways in which the media was created for performance. In the second part of the workshop, students will explore a sample scene from a well-known play and identify goals for the use of media in the scene. Using basic everyday 2017 technologies, students will create sample media clips to be added to the scene and, in concert with Mr. McCray, the scenes will be played out using the samples, exploring the impact of the media on the scene and the ways that performance in media can play a prominent role in live performance.
